Purpose
Allows free form text entry for surveys or summative examinations. May also be used in offline scripts.
Pre-exam
The textbox question type supports a blank area into which the student may type their answer.
The setter has to select how many rows and columns the area will support, and whether the answer is in plain text or WYSIWYG (rich text).
The Reminders section prompts markers which points to look for when assigning marks:
As formative assessments are not manually marked, the setter uses the Assessment Data section to enter in terms which will be highlighted in the student's answer, and also a model answer for assessments:
During the Exam
The student simply types his or her answer into the textbox on the screen.
Post Exam
During the marking phase, the marker may enter comments and assign an overall mark for the question.
